How to identify the L9080/82 EL/EU versus the L9090, L9091, L9092, L9093, L9094, L9095 EL/EU?

Simply remove the armor front, there are two ways to quickly identify the old electrified mortise (L9080EL/EU, L9082EL/EU) versus the new electrified mortise released in late October, 2014 (L9090EL/EU; L9091EL/EU; L9092EL/EU; L9093EL/EU; L9094EL/EU; L9095EL/EU).
  • The new L9090, L9091, L9092, L9093, L9094, L9095 mortise will have the Schlage logo stamped into the lock case whereas the L9080/82 EL/EU does not.
  • The new L9090, L9091, L9092, L9093, L9094, L9095 mortise does not have a solenoid whereas the L9080/82 EL/EU does. Instead, the L909X has a motor that can be seen inside the lock case at the rear.
See picture below that illustrates the L909X EL/EU and the L9080/82 EL/EU lock case differences.
