"Error 128" shows up when the memory of the handreader gets scrambled.
There is a procedure you can try, but it does not always work.
handreader display: action:
"error 128" press 'clear'
"enter code" enter '1212' then press 'enter'
"enter mem code then #" enter '2' then press 'enter'
The handreader should reboot; watch the display as the handreader reboots.
If you see "HP2....." and you do not have a HP-2000 handreader, then do a 'cold boot' on the handreader.
When the handreader boots up, you should see the model of the handreader you have;
for example, if you have a HK-2 model, you should see "HK2......"; if you have a HP-3000, you should see "HP3...."
If your handreader does not boot up properly, please contact Technical Support at 877-671-7011 option 2 (for tech support) then option 8 (for biometrics) or e-mail us at
