How to assign additional Apple home keys

Resolution:

Home keys for your Schlage Encode Plus smart lock allow always on access to Residents of your Apple Home app. This means the additional users would have to be a resident in your Apple Home app and would have access to control your Apple Home and linked accessories, so ensure they are trusted individuals you want to have this level of access.  

 

At this time, up to 16 home keys can be associated with a single Schlage Encode Plus lock, and each device (iPhone or Apple Watch) leveraging a home key counts towards the total home key capacity. 

 

• For additional users that are already residents of your Apple Home when you set up your lock, you will be given the opportunity to give them access upon setup. They will then be able to have a unique access code created and have a home key created in their Wallet app on their iPhones or Apple Watches.  
   
• If the individual you would like to have a home key that is not already a resident in your Apple Home, you must go to Add People and invite them to be a resident. View Apple’s support link on how to share control of your home and accept an invitation.
  
  Upon accepting the invitation, the user will be prompted to create their own unique access code that will be tied to the home key as well.  

 

An access code for keypad entry can be updated or removed from a resident in the manage access screen of the Apple Home app, but to remove a resident of your Apple Home from having access to the lock via a home key, Apple Home app screen, or Siri the resident would need to be removed from your Apple Home.
