How should I clean a biometric hand reader?

The only routine maintenance required on a biometric hand reader is cleaning.  The platen surface upon which the hand is placed, the side mirrors, and the overhead window should be cleaned with reasonable frequency.  As the hand reader is used, oil from hands builds up on the platen surface and will, at a certain point, affect the hand reader's function.

These surfaces should be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with a simple glass cleaner.  Do not spray the cleaner directly on the hand reader surfaces.
