How many holes or fasteners will I need in a Zero threshold?

Resolution:

The basic rule of thumb with thresholds is:  5” wide and under come drilled from the factory.

Any thresholds 6” wide or wider do not come with holes.

The exceptions would be the threshold plates, i.e. #674 style including traction tread plates and stair nosing would not be drilled at any width.

The #600CP & 601CP would not be drilled as standard regardless of width. We would drill these as engineered specials as long as a drawing is supplied. 

If a 28” size is ordered , the part will  have 3 holes, but still receive 1 screw pack-4 screws
The 36” long thresholds will have 4 holes, or 1 screw pack.
If a 42” length is ordered the piece will have 5 holes, which will  require 2 screw packs  (8 screws).

Once the part is 48” or larger,, the amount of holes is 1 more than the length (feet) of the threshold.

A 72” threshold would have 7 holes, 84” long piece would have 8 holes and so on. Once in awhile a customer will request extra holes due to a certain job condition where added mounting holes and fasteners may be warranted.

Thermal break and 2/3 piece interlocking thresholds would have double the amount of holes. This is pointed out in the price book.
An example would be #625 which would have 8 holes for a 36” length and receive 2 screw packs. These thermal breaks are 2 or 3 piece units requiring both sides to be anchored to the floor.

When asked how many screws would be required for a #68+6710+68 threshold assembly,  Allegion recommends  2 rows of screws because of the width even if the customer will be drilling their own holes at the job site.

Some customers order 18 EA. of #223 or MSLA-10’s.
Note that his requires 5 packs (for 20 pieces)  and not 18 packs.
