How long is the tailpiece on a 98 Series Rim Cylinder?

It depends on which trim you are using, what device, and the door thickness.

Different trims have different escutcheon thickness and/or collar thicknesses for the cylinder to go through, but are normally ½" thick or less.

The 98/99 Series devices that use rim cylinders in their trim require the tailpiece to project ½" off the push face of the door to operate the device.

Therefore, as a general rule, the dimension from the face of the cylinder to the end of the tailpiece should be at least 1" longer than the thickness of the door.
