How is glass cutting size figured for standard or special glass light installed?

The GCS (Glass Cutting Size) is determined by adding 1 1/4" to EGS (Exposed Glass Size) to both the height and width dimensions.

  • Ex: EGS = 20" w. x 30" h. GCS = 21 1/4" wide x 31 1/4" high
  • Steelcraft uses a standard 3' 4" x 6'10" ( EGS = 22 3/16" w x 32 1/2" h. ) half glass in a 3' 4" x 6' 11" door height.
  • The glass cutting size = 23 7/16" wide x 33 3/4" high.
