How does the FC21 Combined Interior function work?

The Schlage Custom Combined Interior (FC21) function can be utilized as  a privacy lock (bed/bath) when the privacy pin is utilized and a passage lock (hall/closet) without the pin, depending on user preference. The Combined Interior function is factory-configured as a passage lock by default. Upon installation, if you do not install the privacy pin (included in every package), the lock will remain as a passage function. You can save the privacy pin to convert the lock from passage function to privacy function at a later date, and even back again.

To configure the lock to operate as a privacy function, simply install the privacy pin as shown here.

When the lock is a privacy function and locked, rotating the inside knob or lever will auto-unlock the door.  You can also use the Emergency Unlock feature with instructions here.

If you want to change from privacy (bed/bath) to passage (hall/closet) function, simply rotate the privacy pin to the left 90 degrees and pull out of the lock, as shown here. Be sure to save your privacy pin.
