How does the external inhibit (EI) function on a Von Duprin alarm kit (ALK)?
There are two terminals standard on the ALK circuit board. A normally open dry contact from the access control unit is wired to those terminals. After initially arming the ALK at the cylinder on the ALK, the EI can be used to disarm, arm, and reset the ALK. There is currently no time delay with this feature, so as soon as the the access control contact is re-opened, the ALK re-arms with no delay. The access control unit (e.g., card reader) delay feature can be used instead. Note that there is no audible signal (as there normally is) when the ALK is rearmed using the EI terminals.
