How does an ALK work?

In summary, the operation of an ALK is:

  • The exit device RX or LX switch will trigger the alarm.
  • To reset an  alarm that is sounding, the 3 options are:
    • Rotate the Keyswitch to disarm.
    • Toggle the  External Inhibit input (access control input)
    • Allow alarm to automatically reset after 1.5 minutes, 3 minutes, or 4.5 minutes.   Set this time via DIP Switch S2.  (See step 6 in instructions.)
  • To exit without an alarm, the options are:
    • Toggle  the Keyswitch to Disarm and then back to Arm.   The ALK will re-arm after approximately 15 seconds.
    • Close the contacts for  External Inhibit input (access control input).   The ALK will re-arm immediately when the contacts are re-opened.
