FB61P How It Works
Top Bolt
To open the door, manually push down on the release trigger on the faceplate to pull the top bolt down. Open the door. Spring action allows top bolt to return immediately to an extended position. As the door shuts, the top bolt depresses as it rolls into strike pocket, then it extends when seated in the strike pocket. When the door is shut, the auxiliary bolt on the faceplate is depressed which causes an internal mechanism to move upward to not allow the main bolt to be retracted. The top bolt becomes deadlatched.
Bottom Bolt
When the door is open, the auxiliary bolt on the faceplate is extended, which keeps the bottom bolt in a retracted state. When the door is shut, the auxiliary bolt on the faceplate is depressed, which causes the black finger to push down on the spring mechanism which causes the bottom bolt to drop.
