To remove an AD or CO series lever requires a push pin type Pin Wrench (included with all new locks) or Lever Removal Tool used to depress the knob stop pin. The knob stop pin is located through a small hole on the base shaft of the lever, on the strike side of the handle. Once the knob stop pin is depressed, pull the lever handle away from the door in the direction of the lever shaft.
To remove the exterior lever that has the key cylinder, the physical hard key is required to rotate the key cylinder so the tailpiece is rotated out of the way of the knob stop pin, before the push pin type Pin Wrench or Lever Removal Tool can depress the knob stop pin. Once the knob stop pin is depressed, pull the lever handle away from the door in the direction of the lever shaft.
To remove exterior levers on mortise or exit trim based AD or CO locks, an 1/8” Allen wrench / hex key is required to loosen the 1/4-28 x 1/2" or 1/4-28 x 3/4" set screw located on base shaft of the lever below the handle, before the lever can be removed using the Pin Wrench or Lever Removal Tool as outlined above.
