How do you install the PM series D rose?

The Schlage PM series (Performance Mortise lock) has a square rose option - the D rose.  To install the D rose, it's necessary to also install the spacer on each side. 

Item C in the image below is the spacer:

For outside assembly:

  • Install rose (A) onto the spring cage (B) after the mounting posts have been installed.  
  • Then, slide spacer (C) over the spring cage making sure to orient it correctly so that it is flush with the rose.  
  • Then proceed with sliding the entire assembly (A, B, and C) onto the spindle in the door (outside) before installing the lever.  

For inside assembly:

  • Install spacer (C) onto spring cage (B) making sure to orient it correctly so that rose will completely cover both items when installed. 
  • Slide the above assembly ( B and C) onto the spindle on the door (inside) and secure with 2 screws
  • Then, install rose (A) over the installed spacer + spring cage assembly.
