How do you determine measurements for extended door thicknesses?

To determine the correct door thickness measurements, first measure the total door thickness.  

  • For ND series, measure to the nearest 1/8"
  • For L series, measure to the nearest 1/4"

Determine where the centerline of the latch is.  Then add one of the following descriptors - Extended Equally (EE), Extended Inside (EI), Extended Outside (EO), or Extended Differently (ED).  See the Understanding Door Thickness document for more information.  

  • Note: if it is Extended Differently (ED), you must supply the measurements from the Centerline to the Inside and from the Centerline to the Outside.
