How do I update my Schlage Sense (BE479) lock from Version 3.42 or 3.49?

Some homeowners may have experienced trouble updating from lock firmware version 3.42 or 3.49.  There is now a way to work around this issue and update to the latest lock firmware. First, make sure you’ve downloaded the latest Schlage Home app from the App Store or the Google Play store.

Delete the lock from the account by going to Lock Settings and tapping Delete Lock. 
This will return your lock to factory default settings.

Then, use the Schlage Home app to pair the lock again. Click the “Add a lock” icon at the top left of the main screen.


If adding the lock from an iOS device, select “Explore Other Options” and then “Set up with Schlage system.” 
 

Accept the firmware update, then restart the “Add a lock” process to complete the setup. 

If you want to use the lock with iOS devices only as part of your HomeKit-enabled smart home, you can choose that option now.
