The Von Duprin 5547 and 5547WDC Panic Devices can be ordered Less Bottom Rod (LBR) from the factory or installed without the bottom rod in the field. This reduces the security of the door and would not be recommended on exterior doors.
The Von Duprin ES5547 Panic Device for Metal Doors only combines the use of a Pullman style top latch with LBR for use with an electric strike mounted in the header of the frame. This greatly reduces the security of the door and would not be recommended on exterior doors and cannot be used on Wood Doors or Fire Rated Doors.
The Von Duprin 5547-F and 5547WDC-F Fire Rated Devices are not available Less Bottom Rod (LBR) and removing the bottom rod would void the UL Fire Exit Hardware label.
