How do I create and manage access codes in the Schlage Home app?

With your lock paired to the Schlage Home app and connected to your home WiFi network, you can easily add, delete or manage access codes for each unique users.

  1. Open the Schlage Home app
  2. If you have multiple locks paired with your account, scroll left to right to select the lock you would like to manage
  3. Once the desired lock is on screen, tap the people shaped icon in the lower right corner
  4. Once on the access codes screen, you can either select from an existing access code listed by tapping on the name OR add a new access code by tapping on the + icon in the upper right corner

To change or delete an existing code:

All codes associated with the lock you selected to manage will be listed on the access codes screen. (Note, if you have a Schlage Encode Plus Smart Lock – access codes listed as “Homekit-########” will redirect you to the Apple Home app to manage)

Warning: To change the length of your user codes, all existing codes will be deleted from the lock and all codes going forward must be the same length. If you have commissioned your lock with the Schlage Home app, access code length can be changed through the app.

  1. Select the existing code you would like to manage by tapping on the name from the list
  2. From the access code profile screen, you can:

Change a codes name

Enable or disable push notifications when any specific code is used

Setup the schedule for the access code

Share or reshare the code via text message, email, etc

Or delete the code all together

  1. Tap the back arrow in the top left corner of the screen to save changes (You will see a SAVING popup on the screen as you move screens – Lose of power or WiFi connect to the lock would result in the inability to make or save changes.)

TIP: If you would like to disable a code but keep the code visible in your list – we recommend using a Temporary Schedule set in the past that can then be easily updated once you are ready to grant access via the code again.

To add a new code:

  1. As described in the first section, locate the access codes screen of the desired lock
  2. Tap the + icon in the upper right corner of the screen
  3. From the ADD NEW ACCESS CODE screen you will be able to create a new code by populating the following fields:
    • Name
    • Code (can be 4 to 8 digits in length)
    • Enable or disable push notifications when the specific code is used
    • Set the schedule type
    • Share the code (optional – you do not have to use this to save the code)
  4. Tap the SAVE button in the upper right corner. (You will see a SAVING popup on the screen as you move screens – Lose of power or WiFi connect to the lock would result in the inability to save this new code.)

TIP: If you plan to be away from your lock/home for an extended period of time and foresee the need for a new code being needed when WiFi could potentially be out to your lock/home, we suggest having a backup always on access code that you set when connection to the lock is confirmed that could be leveraged if desired. All codes and schedules previously confirmed as saved in your Schlage Home app will remain for the lock if WiFi connection is lost.
