How do I communicate with a PED-500 (KC-2) Deadbolt lock using the HHD?
When using the SUS and HHD to program the PED-500 deadbolts, please be aware of the following:
The PED-500 will only communicate to the SUS if the red programming key has been presented and the unit is in programming mode. Red green toggle 5 times. The unit will time out in about 30 seconds if no further actions are taken.
The SUS will not communicate to the PED-500 deadbolt just by plugging in the CIP module. Even if the serial connection is selected and the serial cable and CIP module are used.
To program a brand new PED-500 with the SUS and HHD follow the steps below:
1. Present Red Programming Key to PED-500 Deadbolt
2. Plug in HHD using HH Serial cable and CIP module with Serial Connection type selected under SUS options on the HHD.
3. SUS will recognize that this is a brand new unit and ask if you want to program the PED-500.
4. Select Yes to Program.
5. Choose the correct door name from the list of doors in the SUS and select OK.
6. If the time and date needs to be updated a prompt will come up to set the time and date.
7. Select Yes to set the time and date. (If this step is reached within 30 seconds before the unit times out from the original presentation of the red programming key, the unit will update the time and date. If not, customer will need to remove the CIP and present the red programming key, then plug the CIP back into the lock).
8. Once time and date is updated, the lock will ask the customer to provide a valid programming credential again.
9. Remove the CIP from the lock, present the red programming key, then plug the CIP module back into the lock.
10. If the SUS starts programming the lock with the CIP removed, once the CIP is plugged back into the lock, a prompt will come up asking the customer if they wish to program the lock. Select Yes and then select the correct door to program and then click OK.
