How do I change my modular cylinder length?

A modular cylinder's length is determined by 4 basic parts; a cam screw, cam, plug extension, and a back housing.  Most of these parts are used in more than one cylinder length and the combinations below allow you to create cylinder lengths of 1-1/8" thru 1-3/4" by 1/8" increments (see Figure 1).

Figure - 1: Modular lengths

To choose the correct parts for changing a cylinder's length, first pick the desired "Size" from Table-1 below.  For example, an 1-3/8" cylinder length requires a B520-723 housing, an L583-474 cam, a B520-691 cam screw and a  B590-298 plug extension.  Keep in mind the cam referenced is for a Schlage L9000 series lock (except the L9060 outside).  For modular cams for other applications, see the modular cams chart.
