Gateway Mechanical Installation Training Slides

Mounting and Metal
The Gateway should be mounted away from any metal obstructions of the RF Bluetooth communication.
Mount the Gateway so the LED status indicator on the cover can be seen.
Always mount the Gateway on the same floor as the locks it is LINKED to. The metal in floors will block the RF signal
It is suggested to install the Gateway high on a wall or ceiling out of reach of vandals.
The Gateway is not plenum rated so mount below the ceiling tiles. Any metal in the ceiling tile grid will also block the RF signal if the Gateway.
Maximum range of the low energy Bluetooth transmission is 100 feet by line of site.

Power Supply options, use only one of the following three options
1) A UL 294 24VDC 250 ma, wall wart power supply is provide with each Gateway,  
2) POE (Power Over Ethernet) where power is provided per the POE specification by the building Ethernet router for the POE compatible Gateway
3) Separate installer provided 12 or 24 volt 250 ma (minimum) DC supply wired to the optional Gateway non-polarized input

Wiring
If DC power wiring is used, must be Belden 8760 or equivalent, 18 AWG two conductor, with a maximum length of 1000 feet.
RS-485 wires is used should be Belden 9841 or 9842 or equivalent, 24  AWG 2 or 4 wire twisted/shielded, 4000 feet maximum, and per local code or per the Access Control Provider.

The Gateway is shipped fully assembled, and there a NO user adjustments inside.

Mounting screws are to be determined and provide by the installer based on the wall or ceiling surface.
