Gateway Commissioning with an ENGAGE Partner Account

The October training slides for Gateway Commissioning are here.

Gateway is an On-line device, only partners will manage On-Line ENGAGE Products with Access Control Software.

Commissioning assigns the Gateway to the partners ENGAGE account, and only the partner account will communicate, manage access, or delete/remove and release the device.

During commissioning you can,

Give the Gateway a common name,

Set host addressing and door range in RS-485 mode communication,

For IP mode, set ZeroConfig, Static IP mode, or DHCP for Ethernet communication

After commissioning you can

  Make host address edits,

Connect and see the Gateway configuration

   Connect and do firmware updates

With the mobile device account you can remove the Gateway by deleting it from the account

1) Commissioning  Gateway, and any On-Line ENGAGE device, is only possible with an ENGAGE Partner account

-  Make a Partner Account if the Gateway is only used in RSI communication mode at http://portal.allegionengage.com/partner Make the account with a PC and not a mobile device.

- For IP Ethernet Mode, You must get an INVITE to a Partner Account. IP mode requires the partner to launch the account and and send you an invite

2) Log in to the ENGAGE Partner account

You know it is a ENGAGE partner account because the CONNECT tab is in the lower left, and there is no LOCK or USER tab

3) From CONNECT go to ADD "+" devices, tap in the upper right

You should see all "FDR" mode Gateway or "FDR" NDE that are near by and available to commission  (available means, FDR mode, un-commissioned, not in construction mode)

Swipe down the screen with your figure to refresh the list

4) Select the device to commission from the ADD "+" list and a pop up message will ask if the correct Gateway is blinking Blue, before you continue the commission

5) For the selected device, complete the name with the same ENGAGE rules, no special characters, only letters and numbers to name the Gateway

6) Set host communication, RSI mode for a site using RS-485 communication and IP mode for sites communicating on Ethernet

RSI mode, set the RS-485 address for the Gateway, and the door range for LINKING, You can LINK a MAXIMUM of FIVE in the lower TEN of the door range. Max door rang is 16.

Door range legacy exclusions are still true, do not use door number 170, and numbers 251 to 255 are invalid,

IP mode requires host address format selection of ZeroConfig, Static IP, or DHCP.

When Static IP format is selected you must enter IP address and network configuration details assigned by the IT Department

7) Save, in the upper right. Save is recording this commission to the ENGAGE server, the mobile device (phone pad) must have internet connection for this save. Connection can be by data plan or Wi-Fi.

8) The Gateway is now commissioned and will response to host access control system commands when connected,

RSI mode - Both the RX/TX RED/GREEN LEDS will blink after commissioning when the host RS-485 address set correctly

IP mode - Both GREEN/YELLOW  Ethernet LEDS will  blink with when commissioned and the host IP format is set correctly
