Does the old style 4030 have the same templating as the new style 4031?

The old 4030 series was:

  • Handed
  • Mounted regular arm hinge side.
  • Had sized springs, were not adjustable.

The 4033 is an obsolete closer.  If required, handing can be verified by looking at the following designations stamped on the bracket that the closer is attached to:

  • "R" for right hand
  • "L" for left hand

LCN 4031 is a "FUNCTIONAL" replacement for the obsolete 4030 but is NOT a direct retrofit as the mounting hole pattern is different.

The new 4031 is:

  • Non handed
  • Can be mounted regular hinge side, top jamb, or parallel arm.
  • Has adjustable size 1 - 4 spring.
