Does the E 996 lever trim retract the latchbolt on the XP 99 device?

Resolution: Due to design the latchbolt of a XP98/99 does not retract into the center case of the device from any trim input. Pushing the pushpad or using the exterior trim allows the latchbolt to "pivot" around the strike on the frame allowing the door to open.
