When a Chexit device or DE5300 Delayed Egress Controller is located in a public area, it can be desirable to limit false releases when the Push Pad is accidentally pushed. The Nuisance Delay is the brief time a Push Pad can be accidentally pushed before the Release Delay sequence starts. If the Nuisance Time is set to 0 seconds, the Chexit will enter Release Delay as soon as the Push Pad is pushed (when armed). Setting the Nuisance Time to 1, 2, or 3 seconds allows the Push Pad to be pressed for 1 to 3 seconds before the Chexit goes into Release Delay. If the Nuisance Audio and Nuisance Delay are both on, the Internal Alarm will pulse during the Nuisance Delay. The Alarm Relay does not activate during the Nuisance Delay. If the Push Pad is released before the Nuisance Delay expires, the Chexit will remain armed.
The Release Delay is set at the factory when the device if built and cannot be changed in the field (specify the desired Release Delay between 0 -60 Seconds when ordering the device*).
The Nuisance Delay is set using dip switches on he circuit board if the local code allows this feature.
Reference Section 10 of the Von Duprin Chexit (New Design) Wiring & Installation Instructions - For device purchased on or after 8-24-2015.
For the Nuisance Delay to function, the Release Delay of the device must be at least as long as the Nuisance Delay is set for.
If a customer installed a Chexit device or DE5300 with a 0 Second delay, the nuisance delay will not function no matter how you set dip switches 7 & 8.
Example - If the customer wants the Release Delay to end at the same time as a 3 second Nuisance Delay, then they should order 3 second delay and turn on dip switches 7 & 8 to have the 3 second Nuisance Delay.
The Nuisance Delay does not increase the total Release Delay time.
Example - If the Nuisance Delay time is set for 3 seconds, and the Chexit/DE5300 has a 15 second Release Delay;
If the push pad is pressed continuously for 3 seconds, the Nuisance Delay and the Release Delay would be running concurrently during the first 3 seconds.
After the initial 3 second Nuisance Delay, the device will change to the Alarm state and will Release the push pad 12 seconds later (for a total Delay of 15 seconds from the initial press on the push pad).
* Over 15 second Release Delay requires a letter of approval from the authority having local jurisdiction over the premises prior to the installation of the device. Allegion cannot grant such approval nor does it warrant local jurisdiction compliance.
