Do we have a maximum door width or height for using pivots?

  • The maximum door width that pivots have been tested is a 4' wide door.  Any door greater than 4' would shorten the life of the pivots.
  • There is no maximum door height, for offset pivots the rule of thumb is for every 30" or fraction thereof over 5' or 60", an additional intermediate pivot is needed.  With center pivots, there are no intermediate pivots available.

  • Pivots need to be selected based on the weight of the door, all pivots are rated for a maximum door weight.  Adding intermediate pivots will increase the maximum door weight by 90 pound, except for the power transfer intermediate pivot which are not weight bearing, therefore would not add to the maximum door weight.
