Comment on using a Door Closer on extremely Heavy Doors.

I would like to add, this would be like trying to control a bank vault door. The inertia because of the weight is so high that controlling the door is the issue. When a person opens such a door and begins the movement, slowing the door down to reverse the motion is a big issue. Back check would be difficult to detect and having enough spring force to slow the door down is another issue. A door closer may indeed close the door but the transition from opening to closing becomes a problem and also latch would not be able to slow the closing down. Even once the door is stopped, it would take time to get the door in motion to close. I hope this helps you to understand. I may suggest that if a system could be developed to brake the motion of the door say a pneumatic air cylinder with a pad the scrapped the floor once the door reached a given angle and to just utilize the door closer to close the door, there may be a chance. The same would need to occur near latch.
