In general, Schlage mag readers are set to read both High and Low Coercivity material.
High versus Low Coercivity relates to the magnetic strength level when the cards are encoded.
High Coercivity or HICO cards take more mag strength to encode, meaning it takes an increased amount of mag strength to demagnetize. The Schlage Magnetic stripe credentials are made from High Coercivity material.
Low Coercivity or LOCO cards take less strength to encode, therefore also takes less strength to de-magnetize. Hotel key cards are usually made of LOCO material.
