The RC-04, R-1, and Schlage RC can be mounted outdoors.
To prevent water intrusion and humidity/condensation issues we recommend:
1) Applying dielectric insulating compound (such as Dow Corning DC-4 or similar) to both the ethernet and reader pigtail connectors.
Applying a bead of water-sealant silicone caulk between the edge of the reader and the mounting surface, to create a water-tight seal.
Ensure there is a drip-loop in the cables behind the reader, so any condensation drips behind the reader and not onto the device itself.
