WHY - The older version I/O board had a 1-amp circuit breaker as part of the on/off switch while the current version has a 1-amp fuse that is part of the high voltage circuitry. Since the older version of the -3180 did not have a fuse built-in, and the current on/off switch does not have the circuit breaker as part of the switch, this combination of hardware would result in the operator having an unfused high voltage circuit. This could potentially create a dangerous situation which is why we do not recommend it.
