Can the ND80 / ND12 / ND96 be converted from EL to EU or EU to EL?

The ND electrified motor driven locks shipping as of  March 14, 2016 has a field selectable operating mode, you can convert from EL to EU or EU to EL by flipping a switch on the chassis. See installation instructions here.

The electrified ND electrified solenoid driven lock shipped prior to March 14, 2016 can be converted between fail safe (EL) and fail secure (EU) by swapping out the solenoid, sleeve, and clip.  The lock chassis will have to be disassembled and the following parts will have to be replaced, listed below. These parts are no longer available from Allegion. You could check with your local distributor to see if they still carry these parts.  A second option is to order the new electrified motor driven chassis, (Example: ND80EL/EU LD LLL 626 LLL LLL, lever chassis).

Parts required for the older solenoid driven locks:
  • ND Fail Safe (EL) solenoid: N523-027  (ND80EL/ND12EL/ND96EL)
  • ND Fail Secure (EU) solenoid: N523-026  (ND80EU/ND12EU/ND96EU)
  • Sleeve for electrified functions: N523-031  (ND80EL/EU, ND12EL/EU, ND96EL/EU)
  • Solenoid retaining clip: N523-028   (ND80EL/EU, ND12EL/EU, ND96EL/EU)
