Concealed vertical Rod devices when ordered or installed without out the bottom rod and latch are said to be LBR (less bottom rod). Concealed vertical cable devices when ordered or installed without the bottom latch and cable are considered to be LBL (less bottom latch). Essentially both these acronyms mean the same thing, no bottom latch is being used. Any Concealed vertical cable panic device can be used LBL. Fire rated concealed vertical cable devices when used LBL require the use of the Auxiliary Fire Latch (AFL). Check the price book and the fire rating to be sure the specific application has been tested. Also, refer to the door manufacture's testing for additional applications.
