Can I use an indicator with the HL6-9000?

You cannot order the HL6-9000 with a Schlage L9000 or 09-611 Chevron style indicator. 

Exception: the HL6-9486 by default ships with the 09-611 Chevron style indicator.



There are challenges that must be overcome when trying to use the L9000 indicator with the HL6-9000. 

 

With Gen1 L9000 indicator (Image below on left).  DISCONTINUED

  • the push/pull paddles will have to be mounted horizontally
  • the L9000 emergency and cointurn indicator rose has a trim screw located on the bottom that will be difficult to install with the paddle cover in place
  • the HL6-9000 cover has a trim screw directly below the indicator that will be difficult to install with the L9000 indicator in place

09-611 Chevron style indicator (Image below on right).

  • the 09-611 Chevron style indicator can be installed after the push/pull paddle trim is installed

Gen2 indicators.

  • The Gen2 indicators do not mount the same as the Gen1 indicators, and do not have the mounting screws located at the bottom of the indictor. Gen2 indicators have locator pins located at the bottom. Line up pins on bottom of indicator module with holes on sectional trim, then pivot trim until flush with the door. Now turn the pre-installed screw clockwise using a 1/16" Allen key until the sectional trim is held firmly.
