Can access codes for the Schlage Encode Plus smart lock be shared between Schlage Home and Apple Home apps?

Each Schlage Encode Plus™ Smart WiFi deadbolt can hold up to 100 unique access codes whether they are created in the Schlage Home app or the Apple Home app.

  • In the Schlage Home app, access codes can be created and scheduled as always on, recurring, or temporary.
  • In the Apple Home app, access codes can be created as always on, and can be assigned to Guests that do not have a digital home key. Each home key that is created and assigned to a Resident of your Apple Home app will also have an access code tied to it.

Due to privacy policies, user /guest names associated with access codes will not be shared between the two apps.

  • Apple View:  Access codes created in the Schlage Home app will intentionally appear as “Unknown Guest” in the Apple Home app access management section but will show the correct unique access code in the user/code detail screen to ensure no duplicate access codes are assigned.

Important note: An enable/disable toggle button* will appear next to these Schlage generated codes in the Apple Home app – it is recommended that users DO NOT manage access for these codes via the Apple Home app access management section. Toggling on and off access for a Schlage Home generated access code will result in the code being erased from the Schlage Home app and the schedule being lost.

  • Schlage Home View:  Access codes created in the Apple Home app will intentionally appear as “HomeKit-#######” in the Schlage Home app access code management section by will show the correct unique access code to ensure no duplicate access codes are assigned.

Example image below demonstrates what the side by side access management views would look like when both users generate codes in both apps. Please note - even if a user does not originate any guest access codes in the Apple Home app, they will still see a “HomeKit-#######” code in their Schlage Home app for the code tied to their digital Apple home key.

Managing access codes on both Schlage Home app and Apple Home apps

1. HomeKit codes in the Schlage Home view represent codes that originated in the Apple Home app. One code is associated with the admin/resident home key created at setup. The other code is assigned to "Billy" in the Apple Home app.

2. Unknown Guest Codes in the Apple Home app represent the "Jim" and "Sarah" codes created in the Schlage Home app.

3. See Important Note above for information about toggles.
