Can a door be cut down in height?

Steelcraft's L-Series doors can be reduced in height by cutting off:

  1. A maximum of 4” from the top or the bottom of the door.
  2. If the door is fire rated, The distributor must be a listed UL/WH service procedures to maintain its rating.

The process for cutting a door down is as follows:

  1. It is recommended to remove the end channel first if cutting less than 1” of door.
  2. After cutting the door to the desired height an end channel of 18 gauge minimum should be reinserted and spot welded or plug weld into place.
  3. The placement of welds maximum 2” from the ends and 6” maximum on center.
