Are Ives hinges UL fire listed, and do they bear a UL fire label marking?

UL labeling is required for spring hinges and for continuous hinges when used in fire rated assemblies.  UL labeling is not required for pivots or standard butt hinges used in fire rated assemblies provided they meet the requirements of Section 6.4.3 of NFPA 80-2022 - Standards for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives.  Section 6.4.3 contains the general requirements for hinges, spring hinges, continuous hinges and pivots. (For example, butt hinges must generally be of the ball bearing type and be constructed of steel.)  Section 6.4.3 also provides a table which lists the required hinge size and material for various door sizes and fire rating requirements.

Ives hinges may or may not have a UL mark on the product or packaging, since a UL mark is not a requirement.

Fire label information for Ives hinges may be found in the UL directory under File number R16697 and UL category GWZQ - Door Hinges.
