4600 with EO3, how to troubleshoot and how can you check the clutch and motor on a 4600 operator?

If you get an EO3 on the control box on a 4600 operator.  E03 = Motor / Clutch not plugged in or open coil.  To troubleshoot follow these steps:

  1. Verify that the motor is plugged into the controller and fully seated.
  2. Check to ensure the Power light and Safety Clear light are illuminated on the Controller.
  3. Unplug the motor from the controller and test the ohms on the 4 pin connector. NOTE: It is easier to get the ohmmeter probes into the plug's molex terminal by gently removing the cap on the end of the molex connector.

To check the ohms on the clutch on a 4600 Series operator:

  1. Clutch -- Measure the resistance (ohm reading) on the 2 outside wires on the connector. You should get an ohm reading of 1200 ohms (+/- 10%).
  2. Motor -- Measure the resistance (ohm reading) on the 2 inside (middle) wires on the connector. You should get an ohm reading of 20 to 70 ohms.
  3. If either of these measurements test outside their allowable range, the motor clutch will need to be replaced. - Part # 4630(40)- 3454.
