Why is the Von Duprin exit alarm ALK going into alarm on it's own?

The following may cause the ALK to go into alarm:

  1. Make sure red and blue wires on the RX switch are connected to the exit alarm ALK terminal block and yellow wire is taped off.
  2. Check the red and blue wires with ohm meter to make sure the contact reads normally open, if not adjust the switch per installation instruction.
  3. If using LX switch instead of RX switch, use white and gray wires and tape off the violet wire.
  4. Check the white and gray wire with ohm meter to make sure contact reads normally open, if not adjust the switch per installation instruction.
  5. Replace the RX or LX switch if the switch is not showing open contact even after adjustment.
  6. If the exit device push bar is not extending out all the way it could cause the switch not to open causing the ALK  to go into alarm.
