Why is a 5100 electric strike clicking but not locking?

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Measure the voltage at the electric strike. If the strike is FSE and not locking there should be no voltage at the strike and if it is FS there should be 12VDC or 24VDC present at the strike.
  • Make sure the strike wires are configured correctly for 12VDC or 24VDC.
  • If the strike was converted to FS or FSE make sure ACTUATOR is installed properly. See 5100 electric strike, Figure 3 and Figure 5.
  • Make sure there is no pressure against strike lip from the lock set.
