What do you do if rust spots show up on steel doors and frame material?

During the construction cycle, spot rust is usually attributed to either material handling damage or improper storage of the material on the jobsite. The material must be repaired and repainted as soon as the rust becomes visible. Steps to follow are as follows:

  1. Sand all rust spots down to bare metal, apply primer and re-paint with finish paint following manufacturer’s recommendation.
  2. Follow jobsite storage and installation instructions.

Delays in repairing and tough up painting will result in excessive rusting which could require complete product replacement.
