Can Von Duprin QEL/EL and CX be in the same device?

You can not use these options together on the same device per the following reasons:

  1. QEL/EL device retracts the latch bolt of the exit device allowing entry.
  2. CX (Chexit) device locks the push bar of the exit device which causes the delayed egress.
  3. CX device doesn't retract the latch bolt.
  4. The Chexit solenoid or motor occupies the same space that the EL solenoid or QEL motor would occupy.

For applications that need both delayed egress and latch retraction, consider getting an EL or QEL device with an RX-LC switch to trigger a DE5300 Delayed Egress Controller which would control when a Schlage Electronics M400 Series Maglock (recommend the P option, for example the M490P) is securing the door.
