The following details need to be taken into account if replacing the obsolete HD continuous hinge with the TWP or TW8
option with the new XY hinge with the TWP-CON option.
1. The
XY hinge TWP-CON location will not match the existing HD-TWP/TW8
location.
a.
Solution: the customer will have to order the
XY-TWP-CON engineering special with the XY-TWP-CON location to match their
existing hinge location.
2. The
HD-TWP/TW8 used a flat ribbon cable so the cables and plugs in the door and
frame that connect to it have a flat plug. This flat plug will not
mate up to the XY-TW8.
a.
Solution: The customer will also need to order 2
each CON-6W (or other variable length Allegion connect cable) for the door and
frame side of the XY-TWP-CON hinge to replace the flat plugs in place already.
3.
The mounting holes for the XY hinge will not match up to the
mounting holes of the HD hinge. Please reference the
templates for the hinge profile differences, mounting hole location
differences, and standard HD-TWP/TW8 and XY-TWP-CON locations.
