Resolution

Cam Lift hinges can only be used with LCN door closers that have a "Regular" style arm.

Manual Closers:
  1. Maximum lift dimension is 3/4".
  2. Can not be use EDA, CUSH, or Track Arm door closers.

Automatic Operators:

  1. Maximum lift dimension is 3/4".
  2. Can not be use EDA, CUSH, or Track Arm door closers.
  3. Operators have a maximum opening force to push door up the cam of 15 lbs. *(seen note)

Fire/Life Safety - Hold Open Closers:

  1. Maximum lift dimension is 3/4".
  2. Can not be use EDA, CUSH, or Track Arm door closers.
  3. Door weight (heavy door) will reduce the closers ability to hold door open.

Notes

* Manual force to open door (door weight) reduces operators ability to push the door up the cam.

  • For further information reference this solution: What is a Cam Lift Hinge?
  • Cam Lift hinges can only be used with LCN door closers that have a "Regular" style arm. These arms have sufficient flex at the elbow and at the shoe to accommodate the door rise caused by the cam lift hinge.
  • Pull Side Regular Arm Mount should have the vertical dimension of the shoe location on the frame increased the Lift Dimension up to ¾” max.
  • Push Side Top Jamb Regular Arm Mount should follow the “Flush Ceiling” mounting requirements to avoid the arm rubbing on the stop of the frame.

Closers that use a track type arm, EDA, or CUSH arm will  NOT work with the cam lift hinge.  These arm types are solid and do not flex and will not accommodate the door rise caused by the cam lift hinges.
