How do I cut the Everest 29 keys?

Key cutting shims are now available to assist with cutting all Everest 29 keyways. Please see the shim introduction document here. This document illustrates how the key cutting shim fits into the key and prevents the undercut from crushing while allowing for adequate clamping of the key in the cutting tool.

If you continue to have issues when cutting Everest keys, the following are recommended:

  • Slowing down the feed rate.
  • Replace cutting wheel if it is older or has a low tooth count.
  • Use proper clamping pressure to ensure a good grip on the key, without damaging the key.
