Why is the AD300 blinking Green and Red?

The super capacitor powers the AD300 motor to the correct power fail position, secure or unsecure, during a power fail event.

When power is restored to an AD300 in the Power Fail secure (lock) mode or Power Fail unsecure (unlock) mode, the super capacitor must be completely recharged before the AD300 is fully functional. During this power up recharge time the AD300 will stay in the Power Fail mode and alternately flash at a one second rate the left GREEN Schlage LED and the right RED Schlage LED. This continues until the super capacitor is completely recharged and the AD300 reconnects to the RS-485, becoming completely operational. This Super Capacitor recharge time is two minutes long. Even if the power loss is very brief, the AD300 still moved the motor and will require a complete two minute Super Capacitor recharge time.

With power up the “Secure/Unsecure” power fail mode the AD300 will alternately flash at a one second rate the left GREEN Schlage LED and the right RED Schlage LED until the super capacitor is fully charged. The AD300 remains in “Power Fail” mode until the two minutes expire.

With power up the “As-Is” AD300 power fail mode will NOT blink Green/Red for two minutes.

Recognize the AD300 when first powered, or when recovering from a power loss, may NOT be fully functional for two minutes until the AD300 super capacitor is fully recharged. During this recharging the AD300 alternately flashes at a one second rate the left Schlage GREEN LED and the right Schlage RED LED and remains in the selected “Power Fail” mode until the super capacitor is fully charged.

1) Be aware of this condition for re-charging during;

a. First install

b. During power outages,

c. When deciding the Power Fail mode of the locks at your facility.

2) This recharge time is not necessary for an AD300 set to “As-Is” Power Fail mode. An AD300 with the Power Fail mode set to As-Is does not require the two minute super capacitor recharged time and recovers to normal operation much faster.
