Why did my CO Lock stop working after the Reader Module (electronics) was changed?

CO Reader Modules are not individually replaceable, nor can they be swapped between locks. The inside and outside assemblies of a CO lock are a matched/mated set and cannot be swapped to change reader types.
The Reader Module must be replaced along with the Base-plate Subassembly, as a matched set.
If a none-matching Reader module is connected the CO lock will stop working, the symptoms are:

1.  As soon as the lock is powered up, the Schlage LED will flash RED 5 times and the beeper will beep 5 times.
2. Every time a key is pressed or a credential presented the CO lock will beep 3 times and the Schlage LED will flash RED 3 times.
3. Although Factory Default Reset and coupling is possible; Construction mode, Manual Programming, and Credential reads will not function.
