When are Adjustable Studs needed for use with the Ives 705 hinge?

The adjustable studs (or Adjusta Studs) that come with the 705 hinge are usually used when the frame is not true and plumb or if the door was undersized too much.  The 705 hinge has overlapping metal edges that cover up the odd and uneven gaps that make the adjustable mounting necessary.  Reference this document to see how these are used.

When using adjustable studs (or any hinge fastener), make sure the wall thickness of the door is thick enough to accept the stud to properly attach the hinge to the door.

If the 705 hinge is not using the adjustable studs, the standard fasteners that come with the hinge can be used provided the opening conditions are plumb and properly undersized.
