What process should be followed to change the Credential Reader type on a AD-Series lock?

The process to change the Credential Reader on an AD-Series lock is as follows:

Note: To ensure firmware compatibility of the lock and reader, it is important that the firmware in the LOCK and the READER are programmed from the same AdFwPkgXX firmware package.  Therefore, after replacement, the latest version of firmware must be loaded on the LOCK and reader after the reader is changed.

1- Remove power from the lock;

-   Disconnect the battery cable or remove a battery from the battery pack

-   The AD300 must have the wired power removed,

2- Remove the inside lock electronics cover (upper plate)

3- Remove the two screws that secure the READER to the lockset

4- Install the different type reader following the AD-Series Installation Instructions. (See www.Schlage.com/support)

5- Re-apply power, attache the batteries or re-connect the wired power (AD300 )

Allow at least 20 seconds for the lock to power-up and complete its start-up sequence.

6- To insure compatible LOCK and READER firmware; update the lock with the latest AdFwPkgXX-XX.ffp file (see www.Schlage.com/support)

-   Connect the Hand Held Device to the AD-Series USB connector and press the Schlage button twice

-   If necessary, Couple the lock and the Hand Held Device, by holding down the Inside Push Button (IPB) on the lock and pressing the TAMPER switch three times.   Then select “Firmware Update” on the Hand Held Device with the most recent firmware package downloaded from the support site (above) first.

7- Test and check the lock and new reader for proper/normal operation.
