What is the best way to test the Von Duprin EL solenoid?

The best way to test the Von Duprin EL solenoid is with an ohm meter. You must test both coils to make sure the solenoid is good. The coil has three wires; green, yellow, and orange. The green wire is common to both yellow and orange.  Green and yellow is the pull coil and green and orange is the hold coil.  

EL33/35/98/99 devices - Green to yellow is 1.2 to 2.2 ohms and green to orange is 112 to 130 ohms.

EL94/95 Inpact device - Green to yellow is 1.2 to 2.2 ohms and green to orange is 45 to 55 ohms.
