Do I have to couple each lock with the HHD/SUS after the coupling password is changed or updated?

Once a user changes the SUS coupling password , the previous SUS coupling password is also saved by the SUS program; this allows the user to update multiple locks with a new Coupling Password without the need to do a device RESET.

The Coupling Password update is automatic; whenever the Schlage Utility Software, with a new Coupling Password connects with a device, the Schlage Utility Software will automatically update its old SUS coupling password in the device to the new Coupling Password contained in the SUS.  In order for this Coupling Password update to be successful, the "Previous" Coupling Password in the SUS application MUST match the original Coupling Password in the device.

The internal process to couple a device with new SUS password is described as follows: the SUS first tries to couple with the current password.  If that fails, the SUS tries to couple with the previous password.  If coupling with the previous password is successful, then the SUS automatically updates the lock password to the current password.  When a user enters a new password, the existing previous password is overwritten with the existing current password and then the current password will be replaced by the new user-entered password.

To verify that the device/lock is coupled; click on the SUS device options-> Couple HHD to device , a message will pop up confirming that the device is already coupled.

After updating the SUS coupling password, subsequent HHD’s will need the new coupling password entered before they can update any information in the lock, once the HHD has the correct coupling password, the process will be automatic and transparent to the user as described above.
