Did the 996L trim replace the old 992L and 994L trims?

The 996L trim is the current standard trim with a break away feature built into the lever.

The 994L was the original breakaway lever trim for the 98/99 series.  DISCONTINUED in mid 2010

The 992L trim was the original lever trim (no breakaway feature).  DISCONTINUED in mid 2010

Additional information:

  • The 996L looks like the 992L
  • The 996L replaced both the 994L and 992L
  • The internal parts for the 994L and the 996L are exactly the same.
  • The 992L prep was a little smaller on the original 992L template.
    • The prep for the 994L and 996L trim is wider.
    • We changed the 992L template to match the 994L and 996L so the 994L and 996L trims would fit with no additional door prep.
  • The shape of the escutcheon helps identify the trim
    • The 992L had a rectangular escutcheon with a rounded top and bottom.  Approximately 10 5/8" tall.
    • The 994L had a rectangular escutcheon with a flat top and bottom.  Approximately 9 1/4" tall.
